I was commissioned by Elephant and Bird Books to create the mechanisms for several 3D pop up books. This selection are for the two pop up books - one based on Pets and another on Night-time.
Each spread depicts two opposite terms. For example 'In and Out' or 'Big and Small'.
Below are samples from the spreads from the books based on the theme 'Night Time', showing the mechanisms agreed for the book.

A scene showing bats flying out of a cave. The design was subsequently developed so that the only glue points were those attaching the bats to the page.
A pop up spread showing a family of owls in a tree. The mother owl in the tree pops up and the eyes change from closed to open, whilst the branches and baby owls pop up.

A big bear nestles its' head in to its' paws as they pop out of the page. In the background is a small mouse peaks above the bear's body.
