I was commissioned by Elephant and Bird Books to design and create two pop up books - one based on Pets and another on Night-time. Each spread depicts two opposite terms. For example 'In and Out' or 'Big and Small'.
Below are samples from the spreads from the books based on the theme 'Pets', showing the mechanisms agreed for the book  (where the book is yet to be illustrated).

As the page is opened, the chameleon stands on a branch, it's eye turns to see a fly which it catches with its' tongue which flicks out of its' opening mouth.

There is also a tab on the chameleon which pulls back as the spread opens, changing the colour of the chameleon. Its' tail also pops out around a twig, giving the design more depth.

A bird sits in a cage looking through the cage door but when the it's opened, the bird is released.

To the left, there is also an extra feature; a water bottle which drains as the tab is pulled.

A wet dog drying off. To the right, the dog shakes water off its' fur and tail; spinning as the page is opened (and cut-out water droplets changing from white to blue).

To the left, a child splashes in a puddle.

A cat pops through the catflap, whilst the mouse hides in it's hole
